FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Local people are spreading holiday cheer to our men and women serving overseas. The Lee Memorial Health System's Military Support Program met Tuesday night to assemble holiday care packages for troops.
In addition to the boxes full of everyday necessities, there were other boxes filled with holiday things like lights, trees and ornaments.
"Once people find out that these are local troops from our 14 high schools that we support, we do get the support. They want to take care of their own," said Kim Gaide, with Lee Memorial Health System Military Support.
The Lee Memorial Health System Military Support Program has been supporting local troops overseas since May 2003.
