"Home Invasion Robbery Update #1" - Tuesday, 8:45 p.m.
Tuesday morning surveillance cameras captured one of the home invasion robbery suspects on video. The suspect, featured in the photos attached, attempted to use the victims' credit card at a gas station on Cleveland Avenue. He is wearing dark clothing and a ball cap. The suspect's car is also shown in the photos. It is a red, four-door, older model vehicle. FORT MYERS, Fla.- On Tuesday, at 10:04 a.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a home invasion robbery at an apartment located at 1721 Red Cedar Drive. Upon arrival police learned that the incident began between 7:00 and 8:00 Tuesday morning.
The victims included a man, a woman and their infant. The male victim was leaving the apartment when he opened the door and was approached by two unknown, armed suspects. He was forced back inside the apartment. The suspects then bound the wrists and ankles of the adult victims with duct tape.
The suspects claimed to be looking for narcotics or money and after ransacking the apartment they realized they had the wrong place. The suspects fled the scene with some electronics and cash.
The male victim was then able to free his hands and call police.
No one was physically hurt during the robbery.
Police are still investigating the crime.
The victims described the suspects as Hispanic males. One was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and the other a tan hooded sweatshirt.
