FORT MYERS, Fla.- The man who murdered a Fort Myers woman and left her body to rot in a shower will spend ten years behind bars. The victim's family was outraged at what they thought was a light sentence, but prosecutors say it's the best they could do.

Shannon Sweet's family is distraught, but prosecutors say the evidence was too shaky.

Sweet's family came from Vermont to watch her killer, Matthew Gullet, sentenced. He strangled her and left her body to decompose for a week in a Cape apartment. Her family says justice has not been served.

One by one they walked up to the judge to talk about Shannon, who they call a charming, but troubled woman, who was always a good mother.

Gullett showed no emotion as he heard his sentence. The family says his reaction is a slap in the face.

They were also shocked at the ten-year sentence. Prosecutors say there were too many problems with the case and didn't want him to walk away a free man.

Some of the witnesses were drug users whose their recollections may have been poor.

Gullett will also have ten years probation when he gets out.
