CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A WINK News exclusive: One of the men Garrett Kern went to after authorities say he killed his step-grandfather is telling us about what happened that day.

Kern is charged with second degree murder in the death of James Arthur. We are also learning more from the arrest warrant.

In an exclusive interview Garret Kern's friend Bruce Zaro tells WINK News about October 27th, the day Kern stopped by his Cape Coral home. Zaro says Kern was rambling, and claiming he and his sister were being held as 'sex slaves'.

"Abused and sexually abused ... the things that he said dont make any sense," said Zaro.

Zaro says Kern was out of his mind in what he calls a "recent psychosis."

"Nothing is logical. 'I've gotta save my sister, I have to free my sister. She's being held by my father and I've gotta go free her, I've got to go free her. What am I going to do. I've got to go free her,'" said Zaro.

Kern then drove his step grandfather's Volvo to Hustlers Bar.

The arrest warrant provides new details into the case, saying that same day, Kern's sister Alyssa looked inside the car while it was parked at Hustlers. It says "Alyssa saw her grandfather's cane and wallet inside the vehicle but she did not see her grandfather."

Bruce Zaro says, that day, he believed Kern was capable of anything, and it was like something out of a horror movie.

"I said, where's the grandfather? That's the grandfather's car, and he said to me 'he's done'. You know, this is like a horror movie. Whatever he is saying might be interpreted to be 'dead'."
