LEE COUNTY, Fla.- New details are emerging in the case against a Cape Coral man accused of killing his step-grandfather. New documents were just released that show what led police to charge Garrett Kern with Second Degree Murder.
Kern is currently in the Lee County jail. In the arrest warrant, Kern told multiple friends about what had happened to his grandfather.
Kern arrived at one friend's house and said his grandfather was in the car. The friend said he was unable to see anyone in the vehicle and Kern replied, "He's done," and motioned with his hand across his neck. That's when the friend called Kern's father, Tracey, and told him what he had heard.
At Hustler's bar, Kern admitted to a friend, named Russell, that he had killed his grandfather and asked Russell if he could help him "clean up" where he had dumped the body. Russell noticed Kern had blood on his pants and the bottom of Kern's pants were wet.
Kern admitted to Russell that he had choked his grandfather to death and described how blood and foam came out of his mouth.
