CAPE CORAL, FL - Councilman Chris Chulakes - Leetz toured a new home in Cape Coral fitted with a fire sprinkler system. Chulakes - Leetz says the home looks like any other, except, in case of a fire, sprinklers would drop from the ceiling and begin dousing the flames. "It's a life saving device. Why wouldn't you want to do it?", said Chulakes - Leetz. Currently there are no residential requirements for interior sprinklers but that may change soon. Chulakes - Leetz says he will sponsor an ordinance to add fire sprinklers to the building code in the Cape. Builder Samuel Davis tells WINK News, "a sprinkler system is less expensive than getting upgraded granite countertops in your kitchen." Homeowner's with fire suppression sprinklers could also experience a reduction in premiums.
