LEE COUNTY, Fla.- The Lee County Library System is getting a futuristic face lift.
Forget scouring a bookshelf. Now, checking out your favorite title is as easy as clicking a mouse.
Lee County Library System's E-Book Branch now boasts more than 30,000 electronic and audio titles, available for free online through your computer, E-Reader, or even most smart phones.
On Tuesday, a digital bookmobile rolled into downtown Fort Myers to explain how to access the free service on everything from a Kindle to an iPad.
All you need to access the E-Branch is a Lee County Library Card and Internet access. The books can be reached by downloading the "Overdrive Media Console" App, or by visiting the Lee County Library System's website.
So far, the service has generated an estimated 165,000 E-checkouts this year alone.
"We're going to continue to offer books into the future. The library's going to be there, whether it's online or in the building inside. We're going to be in the future of the community," Lee County Library System's Deb Czarnik said Tuesday.
