CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Garrett Kern was released from the Cook County Jail in Illinois at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. He is now in the custody of the LaSalle County Sheriff's Office, roughly 90 miles west of Chicago.

Kern will see a judge Wednesday on drug charges in LaSalle County. After the charges are clear, Kern will be released to the U.S. Marshals' office to be extradited back to Florida.

Kern is wanted in Lee County for questioning in the death investigation of 80-year-old James Arthur. Arthur's body was found off Burnt Store Road last week.
