EVERGLADES CITY, Fla. - The Collier County Sheriff's Office says two teenage brothers drowned this morning in Everglades City.
Deputies say the brothers were fishing near the DuPont bridge on State Road 29 just before 11am when one of their cast nets got caught in rocks. One teen fell into the water trying to free the net, the other dove in to try to help. Investigators say the current was too strong, and pulled both teens into the water.
One of the bodies was recovered this morning, the other this afternoon.
The victims were 14 and 17 years old.
