PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives are investigating theft of $35,000 in large electric cables to rock quarry equipment in southern Charlotte County. CCSO received the call at 8 a.m. Sunday to Weber South LLC, 40800 Cook Brown Road, when it was discovered the chain and lock to the quarry site was unsecured; a burglary and grand theft occurred.

Approximately 200 feet of two inch copper wire wrapped in black plastic sheathing and bundled in packs of four wires each was cut that was attached to a two-ton generator. The other section of wire about 10 yards long was bundled in white plastic covering; it was cut from a generator control tower. Criminal Investigation and Crime Scene units responded to the investigation which is ongoing.
