CHICAGO, Ill. - A Cape Coral man was due to appear in a Chicago courtroom Saturday.

Garrett Kern, 23, was arrested Thursday in Illinois, suspected in the disappearance of his step-father, James Arthur.  Arthur's body was discovered late Thursday in a wooded area off Old Burnt Store Road in Cape Coral.

Chicago police officers and U.S. Marshals assigned to the Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force found Kern at a homeless shelter, where he was taken into custody.

Kern was scheduled to appear in Central Bond Court in Chicago on Saturday afternoon.  The reason and result of that court appearance have not been released.
