NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - Lee County deputies seized 10 pounds of a liquid drug during a traffic stop on Friday night.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office said the discovery was made during a traffic stop on I-75 near mile marker 150 in North Fort Myers. Deputies pulled over a pick-up with darkened front windows and discovered the driver was on probation for drug charges. A K9 unit that responded to the scene then found approximately 10 pounds of liquid promethazine-codeine, an opiate-based liquid with a street name of "Purple Drank" or "Sizzurp." Detectives say the liquid drug is becoming an increasingly popular drug of abuse, with a street value of $50 per ounce.
Deputies say the driver, Ashlee L. Anderson, 30, of Orlando, was heading from Fort Myers to Orlando at the time he was stopped.
Anderson faces charges of Trafficking in Opiates, Keeping a Vehicle for Drugs and Possession of Opiates with Intent to Deliver.
