NAPLES, Fla. - Millionaires love to live in Naples. A new national report shows Naples has the second most millionaires per capita. Residents of the Paradise Coast aren't surprised.
"We have a lot of the amenities of a larger place in a much more peaceful setting," said Marci Seamples of the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce.
Seamples says the area has seen a major increase in the number of millionaires in recent years.
According to a report from Kiplinger, a personal finance magazine, there are more than 12,000 households worth a million dollars in naples. That makes up nine percent of the population.
"We have the infrastructure," said Seamples, "there's the internet, you don't have to be in the office in the north to work. You can run your company from far away."
Which leaves many millionaires choosing the beach lifestyle over the frigid north.
But the rich also like to have their fun and there are nearly 90 golf courses in Naples. Along with plenty of toys for rich drivers.
"Myself and my partners have invested a lot of money in Naples," said John Harris, General Manager of Porsche of Naples.
"We came here seven years ago and saw the demographics and invested heavily and we're starting to see it pay off."
Kiplinger names Los Alamos, NM as the number one city for millionaires. More than 11% of households are worth a million dollars. Bridgeport, CT came in third.
