BUNNELL, Fla. (AP) - A Flagler County gang leader has been sentenced to life in prison.
Court officials say 24-year-old Brandon Washington on Wednesday received four life sentences plus 15 years on a variety of charges. They include violating the Racketeer Influence and Corrupt Organization -- or RICO -- Act.
The Orlando Sentinel reports Washington was charged in a 2007 home invasion. A fellow Bloods gang member was killed by the intended victim.
The jury deliberated for about two hours before returning guilty verdicts.
In a statement, Flagler County Sheriff Donald Fleming calls Washington a "plague" on the community.
