CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Garrett Kern has been captured in Chicago, Illinois at approximately 1:00 p.m. Eastern Standard time by the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Taskforce out of Chicago.

Kern was apprehended in at the Pacific Garden Mission shelter in the Chicago area after at least one viewer call came in.

A Cape Coral Police Officer assigned to the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Taskforce operating out of Southwest Florida, has been working with the Great Lakes unit for several days now following up on leads. Today, those leads developed into Kern’s apprehension.

Detectives with the CCPD Major Crimes Unit are flying to Chicago now to question Kern.
