FORT MYERS, Fla.- Chauncey Goss filed papers Tuesday to become a Republican candidate for Florida’s 14th Congressional District in the US House of Representatives.
Goss, the oldest son of former Congressman and CIA Director, Porter Goss, grew up in Southwest Florida and lives on Sanibel.
A free-market conservative, Goss manages a business that helps clients cut through government regulation so their own businesses can expand, create jobs, and prosper. Goss also helps businesses understand Washington’s economic policies and its direct impact on the bottom line. He has spent nearly the last decade working on federal fiscal policy - first at the President’s Office of Management and Budget and more recently as the Deputy Staff Director for the House Budget Committee under Congressman Paul Ryan (WI).
“Having worked closely with federal policy since 2002, I know the fiscal, economic, and regulatory barriers Washington erects and understand how to knock those barriers down so we can get on the road to recovery.” Goss continued, “Our fiscal future is at stake. I am running for Congress because I want our sons and daughters to grow up in a nation that prospers. To do that, we must get our economic house in order so our children aren’t crushed with debt and the health and retirement security of our seniors remains intact. I’ll use my expertise to fight for less spending, lower taxes, fewer regulations, and more opportunity to rebuild the American Dream.”
“Southwest Florida has been hit particularly hard by Washington’s poor decisions and we need people in Washington who will fight for common sense solutions to what often seem like insurmountable problems. My father instilled in all his children a love of this country and a sense of public service, and I will not sit idly by and watch this country continue down its current path,” Goss said.
