FORT MYERS, Fla.- Twenty wounded warriors made it to Southwest Florida around 11:30 Friday morning to a warm welcome from local vets and supporters. The men will be trading in their fatigues for swim trunks.
The twenty soldiers are out of Fort Benning, Georgia and all were injured while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
But this weekend, three Fort Myers Beach military clubs hope to give them a much-deserved break.
The American Legion post 274, VFW post 10097 and the Veteran's Club of America are footing the bill for the soldier's weekend vacation right here on Fort Myers Beach.
The soldiers are being put up at the Pink Shell and will do everything from taking a fishing trip to just enjoying the beautiful beach.
The twenty soldiers are scheduled to stick around until Sunday, when they head back to Fort Benning.
