LEE COUNTY, Fla.- More holiday help is on the way, this time, for families in need throughout Lee county.

Christmas Cheer sign-ups are under way this week. The wait to get to the lobby, where volunteers were signing participants up, is long, but the Salvation Army in Lee County says it will find a way to help everyone. The line wrapped around the building, but even with the promise of more registration dates to come, most people weren't budging. The line formed at 4 a.m. Some people were in their cars in the parking lot by 2 a.m.

It's estimated more than 600 people will register for the Salvation Army's Christmas Cheer program today alone last year more than 5000 families were helped in total. They'll get a food basket and two toys per child and for parents, the smile on their kids faces come Christmas morning will make all the waiting worth it.

The line for signing up on Wednesday was cut off at noon, but there are other opportunities to register for a little Christmas Cheer. Sign-ups resume Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Plus, November 3, 4, 12 and 21 are available.
