CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla.- The Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Cameron reports a total of 11 drivers were arrested for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol or drugs over the past weekend and spent a night in the Charlotte County Jail.
Of the 11 charged with DUI, seven were men and four were women drivers. Three are from Port Charlotte, two from Englewood, and one each from Punta Gorda, North Port, and Cape Coral. There was also one DUI each with drivers from Seminole, Florida; Nashville, Tennessee, and Rochester, New York.
Sheriff Cameron said, “Some motorists still don’t get the idea that driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs is against the law. The trauma and financial costs of a crash or an arrest for driving while impaired can destroy your life, and that of others. Our message is simple and unwavering: if we find you driving impaired, we will arrest you. No exceptions.”
