LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A registered sexual offender is under arrest after moving with in Lee County and failing to register his new address with law enforcement within 48 hours.
German Capellan, 50, was arrested on October 20, 2011 by a detective with the Lee County Sheriff's Office Sexual Offender/Predator Unit and booked into the Lee County Jail.
Capellan, a registered sex offender, failed to report an address change to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles within 48 hours of a permanent or temporary residence.
During the investigation detectives discovered that On September 8, 2011, Capellan completed his FDLE registration form at the Lee County Sheriff's Office, where he registered a permanent address of 2974 Jackson Street Fort Myers, Florida 33901. Capellan signed the form, acknowledging he read and understood those requirements. Detectives were unable to locate Capellan due to the fact that there was no apartment number listed on his registration form. In addition, Capellan’s driver’s license reflects an address of 3621 Winkler Avenue, Fort Myers, Florida 33916 since April 14, 2005, with no further changes since to his driver’s license.
These several inconsistencies with Capellan’s sexual offender registration obligations resulted in his arrest.
Capellan, in was convicted of first degree sexual abuse on September 7, 1995 in the state of New York.
