GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A Gainesville man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a woman last year during a home invasion robbery.

An Alachua County judge sentenced 21-year-old Adarius Derrell Harris on Thursday. He was convicted in August of murder and attempted home invasion.

The Gainesville Sun reports that Harris was breaking into a home in September 2010, when noise from the door being forced open woke up 57-year-old Minnie R. Postell and other family members. The woman was shot as she was walking out of her bedroom.

Authorities say Postell knew Harris because he had been at the home previously to work on rap lyrics with one of her relatives.
