FORT MYERS, Fla.-  Tragedy for a Gateway community after a couple was found dead in their hot tub.

"It was very shocking, of course, especially very disturbing," said son-in-law Rob Primavera. He is reeling over the loss of Pat and Mary Marino. Their bodies were found floating in a hot tub Wednesday.

"Of course you don't really believe it, you know, you don't think its real, until you hear proof of it from you know, people who are witnessing it," he said.

When couple, both in their 80's, did not return calls earlier in the week, the family got worried and called neighbor Karen Johnson.

"I walked over there and I found them. In the hot tub," she said.

That's when Johnson made the shocking discovery.

"One of the hardest parts was, I had their daughter on the phone, and I had to tell her that both of her parents were gone," said Johnson.

The couple was married almost 60 years and well-known in the community.

"Attached at the hip, it was just the perfect little love story. That doesn't happen every day," said granddaughter Jennifer Jamieson.

Loved ones are trying to cope with this tragedy and move forward.

"Im certainly going to miss them," said Johnson.

"We're a strong family, we're a united family and we'll be ok after the pain wears off a little bit," said Primavera.

The Lee County Sheriffs office says their death is under investigation.
No foul play is suspected at this time. It could take at least a month for the toxicology report to be released.
