FORT MYERS, Fla.- It's been one day since WINK News cameras caught the Vice President of Academic Affairs, Steve Atkins, leaving the Edison State College campus. He's on paid administrative leave for what he says was bringing to light issues within the school.

The Edison State College President, Kenneth Walker, recommended to the board of trustees Tuesday that Dr. Atkins be terminated, but pending action by the board, Atkins was placed on paid administrative leave.

The school is remaining tight-lipped on what prompted Walker to recommend Atkins be terminated.

Atkins tells WINK News he had planned to file a hostile work environment suit against Walker. He says those problems started after he voiced concerns over course-swapping at the school.

The college issued a statement saying the appointment of an interim Vice President of Academic Affairs will be coming in the next few days.

Dr. Walker's vehicle remained parked on campus since Tuesday night, but could not reached for comment.
