NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla.- On Friday, October 7, 2011 at 12:07 a.m., the Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance at 8441 Hart Drive in the Suncoast Estates area of North Fort Myers.

When deputies arrived on scene, they were confronted with an armed subject. Shots were fired and the suspect was struck. He is currently being treated for his injuries. The extent of his injuries and the victim's identity have not been released. There were two deputies involved and neither was injured.

The suspect has been identified as 46-year-old Robert Lewis McCracken. He remains in the hospital in serious condition. 

Investigators have been combing through the scene looking for evidence for over 18 hours. A chopper was up in the air, providing them with aerial view of the crime scene. Detectives were also going door-to-door, interviewing neighbors.
