FORT MYERS, Fla.- It may be the third week of September, and 90-degrees outside in the afternoon, but it's beginning to look at lot like Christmas! Some stores already are displaying Christmas items, and more will follow shortly.

"Yes, it may seem early, but people love the chance to get a head-start on holiday shopping," said Rodney Lyle, manager at Hobby Lobby in Fort Myers. "We put our stuff out in recent weeks, and it is selling. What's more, I will have to hire some people to help us through the holiday period."

Southwest Florida Works, where people look for jobs, is excited to have the extra hiring.

Dillard's department store is holding at job fair at the SWFL Works headquarters in Ft. Myers next Wednesday. Other retailers no doubt will follow in October, according to Barb Hartman.

"Whether it's purely holiday hiring or seasonal for the snowbirds, this is good news. It will help us continue to gain some momentum in the jobs area," Hartman told WINK News.

Hobby Lobby says it may have to double its staff this fall, from 15 to 30, to help with the holiday business.
