CAPE CORAL, Fla.- If you've driven by the Midpoint Bridge lately you may have noticed that the scaffolding around the Iwo Jima statue in Cape Coral has come down.

The project has missed two completion dates and that had one vet worried, wondering if the project would ever be completed.

After six months, almost to the day, the project is one major step closer to completion. But the scaffolding is down and in a month, it is expected to be rededicated.

It has been a long road for those trying to get this Iwo Jima statue restored.

David Bodden has the story.
