GOLDEN GATE, Fla.- The family of a disabled Golden Gate man wants to know who's responsible for beating the 23-year-old while he was defenseless in his wheelchair. They say Francis Domingo Rosa had no enemies and they only got a glimpse of a suspect's car speeding off.

The incident happened Sunday night on 32nd Avenue SW. The family found him beat up, outside their home. It was a noise that alerted them. They ran to the driveway and found him in a pool of blood. Doctors say he wasn't shot, instead, that he was pistol whipped several times to his head, shattering his skull.

These injuries are even worse with Rosa's disability. The family said he was born with a bone disease, causing extreme sensitivity.

The family is puzzled about the incident.

Rosa is currently in Lee Memorial Hospital. Though he has regained consciousness, Rosa is in critical condition.
