A Cape Coral boy has changed the rules for his birthday this year: he wants cash, instead of gifts, so that he can send care packages to soldiers.
8 year old Jon Lubick came up with the idea after seeing a 9/11 event at downtown Cape Coral last week.
Jon's family has two sets of twins (of which he is one of them) - and all of his siblings have agreed to do the same during their joint birthday party on September 25th.
The kids will be sending cash, drinks, snacks and custom written holiday cards.
Jon will be asking every one of the expected 80 people at his party to donate $5 and help create care baskets.
Those baskets will be shipped shortly after and are expected to arrive at soldiers overseas around Christmas time.
