NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a man was bitten by a shark while surfing off a central Florida beach.

Volusia County Beach Patrol reports that 25-year-old Daniel Jorgensen was paddling out from New Smyrna Beach Friday morning when the shark attacked. Officials say Jorgensen had a 3-inch deep cut on his arm but refused transport to the hospital.

Jorgensen told rescuers he would drive himself to the hospital.
