MIAMI (AP) - The government of Mexico has issued a hurricane watch that stretches from Tampico to Veracruz as Tropical Storm Nate meanders in the Bay of Campeche.
The watch was issued Friday. The center of Nate could become a hurricane on Saturday and approach the hurricane watch area by Sunday.
Tropical storm warnings and watches also were in effect for parts of Mexico's coast.
Nate was moving slowly, swirling northwest at about 3 mph (5 kph). It currently had maximum sustained winds of 65 mph (105 kph) and was still about 140 miles (225 kilometers) west-northwest of Campeche, Mexico.
