PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit detectives arrested three from Port Charlotte after an undercover marijuana street buy led them to their dealer and seized 227.3 grams of marijuana.

Detectives assisted by the Street Crimes Unit, met Wednesday at 9:50 p.m. at a car wash at U.S. 41 and Conway Boulevard and met with Guy Douglas Owens, 20, 241 Dalton Blvd. Owens got into the undercover car and said his dealer was nearby and to drive around the corner to get the marijuana from him. At Dalton and Duxbury Avenue, they met Travis Scott Emery, 16, 660 Dalton Blvd. who was standing in the street. Once the exchange of marijuana for cash was completed, Owens was dropped off down the street; units moved in and arrested Owens.

Emery walked to a nearby house at 480 Sharon Circle. Detectives arrived, knocked, and Emery came to the front door. Detectives smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside.  Emery came out and was arrested. The detective knocked on the door again, this time Matthew Wayne Mead, 25, who lived in the home, came to the door. Mead stepped out and locked the door behind him. He yelled to his wife not to come to the door and to call his attorney. Eventually his wife came to the back door and agreed to sign a waiver of search.

Detectives entered and in Mead’s office found a total of 227.3 grams of marijuana in baggies and on a tray, a digital scale, metal grinder, a glass pipe, and a large amount of zip-lock baggies. They also recovered the two marked $20 exchanged during the drug buy on the street. In Mead’s bedroom they seized Valium and Xanax pills.

All three were arrested and transported to the Charlotte County Jail. Owens and Emery were charged with felony Sale and Delivery of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Mead was charged with Possession of Marijuana with intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana over 20 grams, Possession of Xanax, Possession of Valium, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; this is his ninth booking. Owens posted a $4,500 bond and Mead a $13,500 bond and released. Emery was released to his parents.
