LEE COUNTY, FL - The voicemail of Lorne Lyles phone held a chilling message.
"Hi baby. Baby, you have to listen to me carefully, I'm on a plane that's been hijacked."

The former Fort Myers police officer spoke to WINK News back in 2001, days after the plane went down in a Pennsylvania field.

Lyles said, "Through all that she was going through, she took the time to call me to let me know that she loved me and to let the kids know that she loved them. And I love her and I just thank her for it. That's my memory."

Cee Cee Lyles, Lorne's wife, was a flight attendant on-board the doomed flight. She made this desparate call after the hijackers took control of the Boeing 757.

(From Lyles voicemail), "I'm on the plane. I'm calling from the plane. I want to tell you that I love you. Please tell my children that I love them very much."

Lorne Lyles did not get that first call. But he did get the chance to speak with Cee Cee before the flight went down.

Lyles says, "I went to sleep with a family of four and I woke up with just me being a single parent again."

Fast forward 9 years. Lyles sits down with WINK News to talk about his life since the tragedy and justice being served on the most wanted man in the world, Osama Bin Laden.

Lyles said, "You see the smile? First was a smile. Second was happy anniversary to me because may first was the day that Cee Cee and I got married."

Lyles says in the years leading up to this 10th anniverary, Lyles has appeared on talk shows like Oprah and sat down for numerous interviews. Lorne Lyles says religion has helped him to face each day without Cee Cee.

"My faith in God, you know with me being a Christian, my pastor, everybody just rallied around me and just helped me you know and just helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel cause it was very cloudy for quite sometime."

As for the future, Lyles says he has learned to deal with his loss, knowing he is not alone.
"I've learned to deal with it so I've accepted what happened, so I can go there and you know, appreciate the sacrifice they made. I loss someone that I loved dearly. But everybody loss loved ones that day. It's just not me."
