FORT MYERS, Fla.- Lee County deputies continue their search for a missing middle school teacher from Bokeelia.

Deputies say Mariner Middle School teacher Amy Patterson has not been seen or heard from since July. They want to talk to her current boyfriend and ex-husband, Daniel Proctor. The Lee County school district says they classified Patterson as "failed to report" on July 27th.

She did not show up to work at Mariner Middle School, July 25th. This stopped her from receiving a salary. They say that status may change depending on the outcome of this.

The sheriffs office is telling WINK News they did know of Patterson's disappearance prior to a missing persons report that was filed on August 25th.

They say, at that time, they were busy investigating what had happened and then determined her disappearance was suspicious. Officers say Daniel Proctor is a "person of interest" in her disappearance. The couple has a history together and they were married in the 90's. Proctor was charged with battery against Patterson in 1994.

Now police want to know where he is, but can't locate him.

During the time Patterson has been missing, Proctor  has been telling his mother one thing and neighbors another. The investigation continues.

Law enforcement are asking for help from the public. If you have any information about this case, contact the Lee County Sheriffs Department or call Crimestoppers.
