MIDDLEBURG, Fla. (AP) - A Florida man pleaded no contest to reckless boating charges stemming from a fatal crash that killed his teenage son and another teen.
A judge sentenced 50-year-old Ted Hanner Tuesday to time served and fined him $400 for the President's Day accident that killed 17-year-old Travis Hanner and his 15-year-old girlfriend, Halee Mickey.
Officials say the teens were sitting in the bow of the boat when it veered toward the river bank and crashed into a tree.
The Florida Times-Union reports Hanner was also ordered to continue counseling from an unrelated DUI he received in June. Officials say alcohol was not a factor in the boat crash.
