TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Tampa police shot and killed a robbery suspect after they say he failed to comply with orders as they tried to arrest him.
Police say 26-year-old Carlos Laboy was shot in the hip early Wednesday. He was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he later died.
According to police, Laboy shot 55-year-old Yasmin Sara during an Aug. 17 robbery at Y&S Supermarket and Deli. Sara remains in critical condition.
An incident report says Laboy stepped outside his duplex Wednesday morning as police moved in to arrest him. When police shouted, "don't move," Laboy made a sudden move toward his waistband. That's when officer Greg Pryor fired at least one shot, hitting Laboy.
Prior will remain on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
