CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A Cape Coral trophy store is supplying hundreds of free lapel pins, to honor the tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

It's a tiny pin carrying a heavy message.

"It was just a day we wouldn't forget and didn't want anyone else to," Tom Rachel of Crown Trophy said.

Family-owned Crown Trophy is giving away hundreds of pins to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks...a day hitting especially close to home.

"We're originally from New Jersey. I was about 10 miles away when the towers were hit," Rachel said.

So far, they've made 1,200 of the plastic pins in-house and given out about 800, completely free of charge.

"We're not trying to get anything out of it. Just a gesture of goodwill and memory for everybody," Rachel said.

But the Cape Coral business is asking for donations, all going directly to National September 11th Memorial and Museum.

"We have a registry to sign that we're going to send with the money and any money collected is going 100% to the charity," Rachel said.

Rachel says it's a small gesture aimed at honoring a day, never to be forgotten.

"Think of something good that happened near there, or remember the tragedy. But just keep it in your mind," he said.

The pins are being distributed at Crown Trophy of Cape Coral, located at 861 Southeast 47th Terrace, off Cape Coral Parkway.
