CAPE CORAL, Fla.- On July 31, 2011, Cape Police responded to a medical call at 4921 Vincennes St., Unit 1 in Cape Coral. It was reported by a neighbor that a baby was not breathing.

Prior to the Cape Coral Police department arriving, a description was given that a black male and black female left a baby in a black in color Trans-Am traveling towards Del Prado Blvd. The parents, later identified as Michael Clark, 26, and Kathleen Jennings, 25, left their baby in a vehicle with their three other children.

The baby was pronounced deceased a short time later at Cape Coral Hospital.

Detective Christine Mena of the Cape Coral Police Department had an arrest warrant approved on August 23, 2011, for both Kathleen Jennings and Michael Clark. They both were charged with “Leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle with great bodily harm.”

They were located in North Fort Myers and arrested by Officer Chris Lucas, a member of the U. S. Marshals Task Force.
