FORT MYERS, Fla.- Traffic is flowing again after a brutal crash shut down a busy bridge for hours.

The accident happened on the northbound Edison bridge just before 9:00 Tuesday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol cleared the scene, however their investigation does continue. A silver Ford Mustang was driving at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, spun around and slammed into three trees here along the Edison bridge.

The car litterally split into two pieces. One part wrapped around a tree, scattering debris all across the road. The car also caught fire.

As this was happening, an off duty Lee County E.M.T. was driving by, on his way to work at the same time the accident happened. The E.M.T., Eric Roberts, got out of his car and rushed to provide aid to the victim.

However, the victim, Zaymel Bosque Gonzalez, 35, of Cape Coral, later died.
