DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say 26 exotic birds died in a Daytona Beach house fire.

Firefighters reported finding 30 birds and one turtle inside in the single-story home on Sunday. Four birds were taken to an emergency veterinarian clinic, but the others died from smoke inhalation. It wasn't clear what happened to the turtle.

Fire officials say the birds were valued at between $10,000 and $15,000.

Officials say no one was home when firefighters arrived. The cause is believed to be a faulty electrical outlet.

No humans were injured.
