LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - The Lehigh Acres Fire Marshal says nothing has been ruled out as investigators look for the cause of Wednesday's house fire. Inspectors combed through every inch of the house on the 700 block of Mirror Lakes Dr, but they were unable to pinpoint what caused the destruction.

"We've got some other investigative avenues we're gonna check out," said Ken Bennett, the Lehigh Acres Fire Marshal.

Ralph Martorella is thankful his home next door escaped without damage. He had just returned home when he noticed the flames.

"I ran out the front door and the flames were shooting right across my house," Martorella said.

Luckily, fire fighters were able to keep the blaze from spreading.

"I was scared because the flames were going from the top over to my roof," Martorella said, "I was afraid I was gonna catch on fire."

The people who live in the house says they didn't leave anything on that would have caused the fire. Investigators says it could be two to four weeks before we know what really happened.

"We try to look at everything and from there we begin ruling things out," Bennett said, "there are a few more things for us to look at before we can say that his was the cause."

The residents sorted through their belongings with their insurance company Thursday evening, looking for anything they can salvage. They are now staying in a hotel.
