PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Punta Gorda residents protested outside Republican Representative Tom Rooney's office on Wednesday.

The protestors were demanding Representative Rooney stop playing politics and focus on bringing more jobs to the area.

The rain didn't keep these protestors away. About 50 people gathered on the steps of the old courthouse and on the street.

The protest was organized by the Charlotte County Democratic Club, but ironically, some members of the Charlotte County Tea Party arrived as well. Obviously, both sides have very different views about the president and his politics, but they all held signs asking, "Where are the jobs?" and "When is Washington going to work for us?"

The rally was expected to run until 1:00 p.m. Members of the Charlotte County Democratic Club planned to hand-deliver a letter to Representative Rooney afterwards.
