NAPLES, Fla. - When you think of Downtown Naples you probably think of the shops and restaurants. But do you ever think about alligators?

Mike Sturgill, better known as Gatorman Mike, wants to bring his gators from his exhibit in the Everglades into Tin City in Naples.

"A lot of people come to this area just to see alligators," Sturgill said.

For more than a decade tourists have come to his "Hug and Hold an Alligator" exhibit on south 41 for a unique experience.

"It doesn't take long to figure out they're just not as mean as people think they are," Sturgill said.

Sturgill got the thumbs up from a city committee Wednesday morning and he'll go before the full city council next month. If approved, he'll move into Naples as soon as possible.

Christina Murphy with Cruise Naples is looking forward to the reptile neighbors.

"I think he's on to something that is gonna really take off in this town," Murphy said.

Perhaps gators and shopping can go together.
