FORT MYERS, Fla.- On Tuesday, a Fort Myers woman contacted the Lee County Sheriff's Office to report a Grand Theft and an Internet Scam.

The woman is originally from Lithuania and speaks very little English.

She explained that in April, she had been contacted by an unknown person via the Internet who had advised her that she had won the lottery. She was advised to give the unknown person her credit card number, so that they could take the fees for processing and mail her winnings to her. The woman then gave the unknown suspect her Capital One Visa card number.

Beginning in April, the unknown suspect began removing and depositing money to and from her account to the tune of roughly $8000. She now believes this was a scam. She has not cancelled her credit card, nor reported fraud to Capital One. Though she does not have paperwork supporting this information, she does desire to prosecute.
