MARCO ISLAND, Fla.- A possible near-drowning occurred Thursday afternoon on Marco Island. Though a near-drowning cannot be confirmed, it is known that the victim suffered cardiac arrest.
The Marco Island Fire Department arrived on the scene behind the Sommerset condos on South Marco Island to find a bystander performing C.P.R. on a man he had helped pull out of the water. Officials used an A.E.D. (Automated External Defibrillator) on the patient due to full cardiac arrest. The man, whose name has not yet been released, was then transported to Physicians Regional on Collier Boulevard. His condition is unknown at this time.
