TROPICAL GULF ACRES, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit detectives reported that the wife in an apparent suicide pact died Wednesday evening at Lee Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers. Detectives said Patricia G. Wright, 57, had been critical and on life support since the shooting incident Sunday morning outside Friendship United Methodist Church, 12275 Paramount Drive in Tropical Gulf Acres.

Her 60-year-old husband, Bruce Wright, was found dead behind the church by the pastor; both were victims of self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the head. Detectives recovered a shotgun and a rifle at the scene. The couple lived in Las Vegas and recently drove to Charlotte County in their Mazda Tribute SUV which was found in the church parking lot. They had been staying in a local motel. MCU detectives said the couple married in that same church over 40 years ago.

The investigation continues by MCU detectives trying to find out what happened that led to their suicide shooting deaths.
