LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. -- WINK News is learning more about a man who died in a fiery motorcycle crash in Lehigh Acres.

Gerardo Perez was pronounced dead at the scene yesterday after authorities say his motorcycle struck a UPS truck. "He was good to his friends to his family to his dad his sisters his mom, his step mom, and to all of us. He will never be forgotten," said his cousin Mayelin Pena.

Grieving family members and friends are mourning the loss of 23-year old Gerardo Perez.

"He was like my brother - he was a brother to everyone- someone that can never be replaced," said friend Ulysses Palmer.

Perez died yesterday after his motorcycle stuck a UPS truck turning left onto 4th Street Southwest off Gunnery Road.

Law enforcement say speed is a factor in the crash. Neighbors wonder if racing was involved. "So hopefully this is a wakeup call for everybody trying to impress and hopefully, you know - nothing like that happens again," said neighbor Miguel Rayes.

The Sheriff's Office says there have been no reported incidents of racing in this area but say they'll be watching it more closely.

"There are speed limit signs in place for a reason and in that particular area and in so many areas there's a lot of side streets and things of that nature - that you can have something happen really quickly in front of you," said Sgt. Stephanie Eller.

The Sheriff's Office says it's much too early to tell who was at fault for this collision.

They are continuing their investigation into what happened there, and say there is no set time for when we'll be able to see those results.
