COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - Two of the three suspects arrested in a brazen Golden Gate Estates home break-in faced a judge today.
Only WINK News got video inside the courtroom as family members of the men made tearful pleas to the judge, asking her to be lenient on the suspects.
Deputies say Fidel Marrero-Rodriguez, Pedro Herrera, Yadier Gonzalez-Rodriguez, and at least one other person wore police hats as they forced a homeowner into her house by gunpoint. The Miami men were instead faced with the barrel of her husband's gun. His quick trigger finger left one of the men with a bullet wound to his shoulder. The suspect is still in the hospital, while his wife begged the judge to see him.
Estates residents we talk to applaud the homeowner for standing his ground and shooting at the men. Some call it a mistake to rob anyone in the estates, since many own guns.
All three men are being charged with impersonating a police officer and robbery with a firearm. They are being held on $550,000 bond.
There is at least one other suspect still on the loose.
