PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives are investigating a “car-hopping” incident of two unlocked vehicles where the suspect is believed to have dropped his own wallet inside one of them.

CCSO received a call Tuesday morning from a resident 3581 Beacon Drive, Port Charlotte. The caller reported a car and a pickup on the property were entered and a GPS unit in each was stolen. When deputies arrived they found a wallet on the floor of one of the vehicles that is believed to belong to the burglar.

Detectives are looking for the suspect to explain how his wallet got inside one of the burglarized vehicles. The caller said the incident happened sometime between 9 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Tuesday. Detectives have not released the name of the suspect at this time as their investigation continues.
