PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives arrested a 26-year-old registered sex offender for having sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl as the result of “sexting” text messages. Arrested was William “Will” Michael Alvarado, 26, of 22278 Vick St., Port Charlotte. He is charged with Lewd and Lascivious Battery, and Lewd and Lascivious Molestation.
On May 20, detectives said the mother of the girl called the Port Charlotte Middle School Resource Officer to ask if her daughter was at school; she was not. The mother then checked her daughter’s cell phone and found a text message from another student about her hanging out with a 26-year-old man. The mother said on May 17 her daughter left home and returned early the next morning. The SRO talked to the girl’s 14-year-old-friend who said the man’s name was “Will.” The friend said she received text messages from “Will” also asking her to spend the night with him; she did not. He also texted her while in school asking her to go to the bathroom and take pictures of her privates with her cell phone and send to him; she did not reply to him.
Detectives met with the mother’s daughter and she said she had been texting “Will” and he asked her to meet him; they met and went to his apartment. The girl said there were others in the apartment and they smoked marijuana and drank alcohol. She said they then went into Alvarado’s bedroom and had sexual intercourse.
The CCSO Computer Analyst requested a subpoena from T-Mobile and on July 8 finally received results back confirming Alvarado and his address; it also showed several phone calls and text messages between him and the 13-year-old girl. Detectives said Alvarado is a convicted and registered sex offender and has been booked into the Charlotte County Jail 11 times. A photo lineup was shown to the girl who positively identified Alvarado as the man she was texting and had sex with. Alvarado is being held without bond.
