COLLIER COUNTY, Fla - On Wednesday authorities continued their investigation into a shooting at a Collier County hospital.

The shooting happened at Physicians Regional Medical Center on Pine Ridge Road Tuesday afternoon.

Christine Moretz was killed after authorities say her estranged husband shot her.

Christine and Jeffrey Moretz had been married for more than thirty years.

But just two weeks ago, 52 year-old Christine filed for divorce.

Investigators believe this may have triggered the shooting.

The incident happened on the third floor of the hospital.

One person inside described it as complete chaos.

A responding investigator wrote in his report, "medical staff was running up and down the hallways."

According to the Collier Sheriff's Office shortly after 5:30p Tuesday night, Jeffrey Moretz walked up to hospital room on the third floor.

54 year old Moretz was armed with a 38 caliber semi-automatic gun.

Witnesses say he took it out then shot and killed his estranged wife, Christine before turning the gun on himself.

Jeffrey was taken by air to Lee Memorial Hospital.

As of Tuesday night he had survived the self inflicted wound, but Wednesday a spokeswoman for Lee Memorial Hospital said there is no patient by that name in their database.

We checked other area hospitals, they also say Jeffrey Moretz is not a patient.

A patient can choose to have their name be private, which means the hospital can not tell the media/public if that person is a patient.

As of Wednesday evening, we do not know what hospital Jeffrey Moretz is being treated at or if he's even alive.

The Collier County Sheriff's Office remains tight lipped about their investigation.
